In the Name of God, The Compassionate, The Merciful,
Well, I'm eating crow. I had previously written: "That's where I get off the Traditionalist Bus...I for one am not going to embrace a foreign faith just because Guenon said that I need to."
Fast forward several years.
I have reverted to al-Islam and am a member of the Naqshbandi Sufi Tariqat (what we in the West call a Sufi "order"). No-one could have foreseen this, least of all yours truly. Last time I updated this blog, if anyone had told me that the next time I update it I would be a Muslim, I would have laughingly told him to go to Jericho, while I enjoyed my port wine and roast pork and made sure the candles on the ancestor altar were still going. After all, I'm the guy who spent five years memorizing the mythological poems (and some of the heroic lays) of the Elder Edda in the original Old Norse. I'm the guy who decried the intrusion of Christianity into our native pagan worldview--never mind Islam!
I owe a giant explanation. I assure you that several are forthcoming. But today is Jumu'ah, and I have to get ready. So, salaams until then.
